So, here’s the bad news. Despite being part of Disney’s live-action panel at D23 this weekend, there won’t be a new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens show there or online. We’re going to have to wait until the Autumn to get out next look at the movie!

“We are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise,” director J.J. Abrams revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly today. “In the fall, there’ll be a trailer…We’re thrilled to go to D23 and meet the fans, but it’s a tricky thing to try and rush [footage] for a convention or preexisting event that would, of course, be fun to show something at.”

That’s a great shame, but the director did at least offer an update on the movie: “I’m still editing and we’re working on refining the cut, but it’s incredibly fun to see the movie come together. You realize certain things that you don’t need, certain things you can pull out.”

It’s all sounding good then, and while the lack of a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer is a definite disappointment, Disney has today released four stunning new hi-res images from the movie. Even if you’re not a Star Wars fan, these are sure to get you excited…

Starring original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and franchise newcomers, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be released on December 18th, 2015.
