Nicholas Hoult is the latest in a line of stars to join Tom Cruise for ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ in an undisclosed role.

Announcing the casting via his Instagram account, Christopher McQuarrie asked the question “@nicholashoult, care to raise a little hell?” Hoult went on to reply “Love to. Though why stop at a little?” Could Hoult be Mission 7’s antagonist?

Filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie, after penning and directing both ‘Rogue Nation’ and ‘Fallout’ will return for both the seventh and eighth films which will be shot back to back.

Hoult will join Hayley Atwell, Shea Wigham and Pom Klementieff as newcomers to the franchise while Cruise Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames will return.

Back in January 2019, Tom Cruise made the announcement that both M:I 7 and 8 are in the pipeline with Christopher McQuarrie at the helm. Both projects in the franchise will be filmed back to back with scheduled releases coming with instalment 7 in the summer of 2021 and the eighth in 2022.

McQuarrie had already made it clear he was looking to do something ‘different’ and had meeting’s with Paramount to possible work on the Michael B. Jordan lead Tom Clancy adaptation ‘Without Remorse’. Paramount has convinced him differently after the runaway success of ‘Fallout’. Wanting to build on that, we can imagine they put in an offer he simply could not refuse.

Hoult was last seen in ‘Tolkien’ and the disastrous ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’, His upcoming films include ‘True History of The Kelly Gang’.
