To celebrate the long-awaited UK release of The Favourite on New Year’s Day, we sat down with two of the stars of the film, Joe Alwyn and Nicholas Hoult, to chat about the acclaimed film.

The latest from filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster, Killing of a Sacred Deer), The Favourite is set in 18th century England with Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) on the throne with her trusted friend, Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz) as her right-hand lady. But the arrival of Sarah’s cousin Abigail (Emma Stone) soon begins to unravel their friendship and power.

Hoult and Alwyn talk about their relationships with the trifecta of women throughout the film, Lanthimos’ distinct style and the excessive use of some foul words the likes of which we rarely see in another other than a Tarantino film!
