When we spoke to Gotham star Donal Logue recently, he told us that there were plans to bring Harvey Dent to Gotham at some point during the show’s first season. That news has been confirmed tonight with Masters of Sex star Nicholas D’Agosto cast as a younger version of the man who will one day become Two-Face.

Though the comic books have sometimes portrayed Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent as roughly the same age, the clearly won’t be the cast in this Batman prequel! He’s going to have a recurring role in season one with the option to take on a regular part in a second season if the so far very popular series reaches that point.

Harvey Dent is a bright, charming, idealistic Assistant District Attorney whose sole mission is to eradicate the crime and corruption that has poisoned Gotham. Although he will one day serve as the white knight Gotham needs so badly as a DA, Dent also gives us a fleeting glimpse of the hideous villain he will become.

D’Agosto was set to take on a leading role in the scrapped How I Met Your Mother spin-off How I Met Your Dad and previous television credits also include shows like Heroes, Review and The Office.

Tommy Lee Jones and Aaron Eckhart both brought very different versions of Two-Face to the big screen, but it should be interesting to see a younger version of the villain brought to life in Gotham, don’t you think?
