After a new French trailer debuted last night for Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator, adding French President Nicolas Sarkozy to the politicians at the trailer’s opening, we now have the second US trailer for Baron Cohen’s latest comic genius offering.

The Dictator sees him reunite with Borat and Brüno director Larry Charles, and he’ll star alongside Anna Faris, Sir Ben Kingsley, Megan Fox, John C. Reilly, and J.B. Smoove.

The film is said to be based on a book thought to have been written by Saddam Hussein, and it’s bound to have the usual dose of controversy throughout, telling,

“The heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.”

Charles is directing from a script co-written by Baron Cohen himself, Alec Berg, David Mandel, and Jeff Schaffer – the last three of whom are former Seinfeld writers, who have been writing the brilliant Curb Your Enthusiasm for Charles since (if you haven’t seen the show before, I urge you to start watching it now).

The Dictator will be released in the US on 11th May, and will then come to UK cinemas a week later on 18th May, so we have just another month and a half before we get to see the antics of Baron Cohen’s General Aladeen on the big screen. I can’t wait. Until then, here’s your new trailer, put out by the film’s official Republic of Wadiya YouTube channel. And for everything else we’ve seen from the film, just click right here.
