Sightseers UK Quad PosterHaving made waves with his acclaimed 2011 film, Kill List, Ben Wheatley returns behind the camera to bring us Sightseers, a black comedy that has taken a healthy seven nominations at this year’s British Independent Film Awards, including the top honour of Best Film.

Premiering to brilliant reviews at Cannes, and continuing on the festival circuit since – you can read our review from TIFF here – the film is arriving in UK theatres at the end of the month, and now MSN have released a new trailer ahead of its release.

“Chris (Steve Oram THE MIGHTY BOOSH) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe GARTH MARENGHI’S DARK PLACE) his world and he wants to do it his way – on a journey through the British Isles in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina’s led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see – the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and the rolling countryside that accompanies these wonders in his life.

But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade. Litterbugs, noisy teenagers and pre-booked caravan sites, not to mention Tina’s meddling mother, soon conspire to shatter Chris’s dreams and send him, and anyone who rubs him up the wrong way, over a very jagged edge…”

Wheatley is directing from a script co-written by Alice Lowe and Steve Oram, both of whom also star in the leads, with the ever-brilliant Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) serving as executive producer.

Sightseers will be released in the UK and Ireland on 30th November. Still no word yet on a release in the US, but here’s to hoping that it will follow early in the New Year, because this is shaping up to be a must-see. Here’s the new trailer to prove it. Enjoy.
