This new trailer for the latest slice of Robert Rodriguez’s kid sized espionage saga shows off the usual eye-melting visual flourishes and while the sight of Jessica Alba kicking all kinds of henchman arse is sure to appeal to many the true value of this video is to explain exactly how the Aroma-Scope will work.

If you were around in the 80s you may remember playground fights over the latest Scratch ‘n’ Sniff stickers which would produce a flavoured pungence when you scraped your fingernail over it. Aroma-Scope works in the same way. You’ll get a card when you buy your ticket and various on-screen prompts will tell you which smell to inhale. It looks nuts, and I can see it going down very well in cinemas, as long as the scenes involving the dog (voiced by Ricky Gervais) don’t involve a prompt.

Spy Kids: All the Time in the World is directed by Robert Rodriguez and stars Jessica Alba, Joel McHale , Jeremy Piven, Ricky Gervais, Alexa Vega, Daryl Sabara, Rowan Blanchard, Mason Cook, Danny Trejo, Antonio Banderas and is set for release in the US and UK 19th August.
