The newly reconstituted MGM studios have announced that their first project will be ‘The Machine‘ starring Vin Diesel. Written and produced by Vin Diesel’s production company One Race Films, the flick stars the muscle bound 2×4 as a human-like machine created in secret by the Pentagon as the world’s first ultimate weapon.
20 years on, the robot has been decommissioned and buried; or so the government think…dun dun derrrr. Vin Diesel’s character befriends a child and his family, eventually putting them in danger and having to stop the big, evil Pentagon from killing him and the kind souls who had taken the strange robot in.
Rumours suggest it has an Iron Giant feel to it and there are hopes for a franchise in the pipeline; after his rather dumbfounding popularity in the Fast & Furious series, with the latest instalment set to hit $500 million box office worldwide. The one thing we will say is that the role is perfect for Vinny D with the usual traits of a robot confined to emotionlessly rigid interaction and a constantly distant glazed over look in the eye…frankly, we couldn’t think of anyone better for the part.
