Robert Zemeckis’ Flight sees him return to live-action for the first time since 2000’s Oscar-nominated Cast Away, and naturally the anticipation is pretty high.

The impressive first trailer landed back in June (no pun intended), and now three new images from the film have made their way online (the last of which is in a nice hi-res form), giving us a look at leading man, Denzel Washington, alongside Don Cheadle and Bruce Greenwood.

“In this action-packed mystery thriller, Academy Award winner Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault, and what really happened on that plane?”

Zemeckis is directing from a script by John Gatins (Coach Carter, Real Steel), with John Goodman, Kelly Reilly, and Melissa Leo completing the cast.

Flight will be closing the NYFF on 14th October, before heading to US theatres on 2nd November, quite possibly making this a strong awards contender. Here in the UK, we’ll have to wait until 1st February, 2013 for its release, but it should be well worth the wait, with all the talent involved. For now, enjoy the new images, which you can click to enlarge.
