Shockya have debuted four new images from the independent drama, Welcome to the Rileys. The film premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to mixed reviews, while critics praised the performances of the three central leads – James Gandolfini, Kristen Stewart and Melissa Leo.
Synopsis: A powerful drama about finding hope in the most unusual of places. Once a happily married and loving couple, Doug and Lois Riley (Gandolfini and Leo) have grown apart since losing their teenage daughter eight years prior. Leaving his agoraphobic wife behind to go on a business trip to New Orleans, Doug meets a 17-year-old runaway (Stewart) and the two form a platonic bond. For Lois and Doug, what initially appears to be the final straw that will derail their relationship, turns out to be the inspiration they need to renew their marriage.
Directed by Jake Scott, from a script by Ken Hixon, Welcome to the Rileys is set to hit cinema screens in the US on November 5, 2010. These new images mainly focus on the character of Mallory (Stewart), a down-and-out stripper, who’s given a helping hand by Doug (Gandolfini), who’s experiencing a mid-life crisis.
Perhaps I’m biased, but with the acting talent of Leo and Gandolfini, and the intrigue of seeing how Stewart will handle a role outside of her typical comfort zone, i.e. playing Bella in the Twilight series, I’m intrigued to see how Welcome to the Rileys comes together.
