Ben Affleck’s Argo emerged from its debut at Telluride and TIFF as a strong contender in the Best Picture race, among other categories in the coming awards season, and following the US and UK posters that surfaced from the film last week, we’ve got two new images of Affleck alongside co-stars Bryan Cranston, Tate Donovan, and Scoot McNairy to share.

Affleck is behind the camera for his third feature, and has assembled a fantastic cast alongside him in the lead, headed up by McNairy, Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin, Kyle Chandler, Taylor Schilling, Clea DuVall, and Donovan.

“Based on true events, Warner Bros. Pictures’ and GK Films’ dramatic thriller “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis–the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.”

Chris Terrio makes his feature debut penning the script, adapting the original 2007 Wired article by Joshuah Bearman, How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran, which you can (and should) read here.

Argo will be released in the US on 12th October, and will be coming to the UK a little later on 7th November. Gone Baby Gone and The Town were both exceptional from Affleck in his debut and follow-up behind the camera, and I can’t wait to see what he brings us next. For now, here are the new images, which you can click through to enlarge.
