With a very strong leading duo in Emile Hirsch and Penelope Cruz, Sergio Castellitto’s Twice Born will be making its world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival this September, and is one of the most promising films heading to the festival, in a year full to the brim with expectation.

Following yesterday’s announcement, we’ve now got a new look at Hirsch and Cruz from the film, as well as some better quality versions of images that surfaced earlier this year.

“Actor-director Sergio Castellitto (Don’t Move) directs Penélope Cruz and Emile Hirsch in this vivid, full-throttle melodrama about an ill-starred romance set against the backdrop of the siege of Sarajevo.”

Castellitto is once more partnering with his wife, Margaret Mazzantini, co-writing the script together and adapting Mazzantini’s original novel.

The film reunites the director with Cruz once more, having worked together on his second feature, Don’t Move, back in 2004.

Hirsch will be playing Cruz’s deceased husband, which promises to grant us a side to his acting that we don’t often get to see. I can’t wait.

Twice Born, previously titled Venuto al mondo, will be making its debut at Toronto this September, before heading to Italy on 9th November. No word yet on a UK or US release, but we’re hoping that that will change very soon following the festival. As usual with these images, you can click to enlarge.
