Ben Affleck’s Argo debuted to very strong reviews at Telluride and TIFF last month, and is now heading into US theatres today, before screening in the UK as part of the BFI London Film Festival.

A contender in the coming awards season, the film marks Affleck’s third time behind the camera, and after catching a great new character featurette yesterday, Warner Bros. have released another featurette as it arrives in the US today.

“Based on true events, Warner Bros. Pictures’ and GK Films’ dramatic thriller “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis–the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.”

Affleck stars in the lead, with support from a fantastic ensemble, headed up by John Goodman, Scoot McNairy, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, Kyle Chandler, Taylor Schilling, Clea DuVall, and Tate Donovan.

Chris Terrio penned the script, adapting the fascinating original 2007 Wired article by Joshuah Bearman, How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran, which you can (and should) read here.

Argo is in theatres in the US from today, 12th October, and will be released in the UK slightly later on 7th November, following its premiere at the London Film Festival this month. All we’ve seen from the film so far suggests it will be one of the year’s best, and I can’t wait for it to land. In the meantime, here’s the new featurette to encourage you to go out and see it on the big screen as soon as it arrives near you. Enjoy.
