Ben Affleck’s Argo arrives in US theatres tomorrow, following its impressive debut at Telluride and TIFF last month, where very positive early reviews placed it as a strong contender in the coming Oscar season.

We caught a great new featurette for the film earlier in the week, giving us a look at the fascinating true story behind the film (including a snippet of an interview with President Jimmy Carter), and now Warner Bros. have put out a great new featurette on the characters of the film.

“Based on true events, Warner Bros. Pictures’ and GK Films’ dramatic thriller “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis–the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.”

Affleck takes the lead as expert exfiltrator, Tony Mendez, starring alongside a fantastic cast headed up by John Goodman, Scoot McNairy, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, Kyle Chandler, Taylor Schilling, Clea DuVall, and Tate Donovan.

Chris Terrio penned the script, adapting the fascinating original 2007 Wired article by Joshuah Bearman, How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran, which you can (and should) read here.

Argo will be released in the US tomorrow, Friday 12th October, before coming to the UK a little later on 7th November, following its screening here at the BFI London Film Festival. It looks set to be one of the best films of the year, and is definitely a must-see when it arrives in a theatre near you. For now, here’s the great new featurette to give you a taste of what Affleck is bringing us with his third venture behind the camera. Enjoy.
