We got our first look at Elizabeth Olsen’s upcoming real-time horror film, Silent House, as the start of the year with a trailer, followed by a great new poster and some images earlier this month, with Olsen looking pretty distressed.

The young actress has been rising wonderfully over the past year, having gone to Sundance last year with both Silent House and Martha Marcy May Marlene, and gone once again this year with Red Lights and Liberal Arts.

We’ve now got a great new clip from Silent House, a horror film shot to make it feel like it all unfolds in one continuous take in real-time, which sounds awesome to me.

“SILENT HOUSE is a uniquely unsettling horror thriller starring Elizabeth Olsen as Sarah, a young woman who finds herself sealed inside her family’s secluded lake house. With no contact to the outside world, and no way out, panic turns to terror as events become increasingly ominous in and around the house. Directed by filmmaking duo Chris Kentis and Laura Lau, SILENT HOUSE uses meticulous camera choreography to take the audience on a tension-filled, real time journey, experienced in a single uninterrupted shot.”

The film is inspired by a true story (as many horror films are) and is an adaptation of the original Uruguayan film, The Silent House, with Open Water collaborators Chris Kentis and Laura Lau co-directing from a script by Lau, who makes her directorial debut with this.

Silent House will be coming to theatres in the US on 9th March, before being released here in the UK a couple of months later on 4th May. Its UK release will see it up against Jason Statham’s Safe and Zac Efron’s The Lucky One, which are largely different markets, but it’s also only a week after The Avengers, which will be playing to almost every market, so here’s to hoping that Silent House will still find its audience. For now, the new clip to give you a taste of what’s to come.
