To celebrate the launch of the Netflix original series, ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’, BFI Southbank (London, UK) will host a dedicated exhibition with workshops open to the public.

Open to the public from 23rd August until 6th September 2019, visitors will be able to explore iconic sets from the series, including the magic of the Skeksis banquet, The Stone in the Wood and the Emperor’s throne – as well as coming face to face with some Skeksis, Gelfling, and even Aughra herself.

There will also be the chance to get a rare glimpse into the craft of Henson filmmaking with puppet workshops, Q+A sessions,  and a making-of gallery capturing how the puppets are created with sketches, notes, sets and models from the series.

Netflix’s 10 episode series, ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’, returns to the world of Thra with an all-new adventure. When three Gelfling discovers the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power, they set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world.

Based on The Dark Crystal, Jim Henson’s ground-breaking 1982 feature film, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance tells a new epic story, set many years before the events of the movie, and realized using classic puppetry with cutting edge visual effects. The world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins.

Directed by Louis Leterrier. The cast includes the Gelflingcharacters are voiced by Taron Egerton (Rian), Anya Taylor-Joy (Brea), Nathalie Emmanuel (Deet), Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong and Alicia Vikander.
