Netflix has released the first look images and announced the release date for ‘Ballad of a Small Player,’ an atmospheric and emotionally charged thriller set against the shimmering neon backdrop of Macau. The film is set to premiere globally on November 14, 2025.

Directed by Oscar-winner Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) and penned by Rowan Joffe (Before I Go to Sleep), the film is based on Lawrence Osborne’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name. Colin Farrell leads an impressive international cast that includes Fala Chen (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Hong Kong screen legend Deanie Ip (A Simple Life), Alex Jennings, and Tilda Swinton.

With Berger’s signature intensity and a haunting performance by Farrell, ‘Ballad of a Small Player’ promises to be a gripping exploration of fate and salvation.
