Many eyebrows were raised when comedian Adam Sandler was signed by Netflix on a three-picture deal in what was the subscription services biggest deal at the time. The company has expanded even more since he signed, but the marriage between the two has been a happy one thus far.
While critics haven’t been particularly forgiving with Sandler’s Netflix roster so far (The
Sandler is to team with his Grown Ups co-star Chris Rock for the comedy The Week Of, which is set to start shooting in Long Island this summer with Robert Smigel directing. Smigel has worked with Sandler previously on films such as Jack and Jill and Pixels and has co-written the film with him.
Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer said about the film:

Similar in the romantic comedy tone of Sandler’s most recent film Sandy Wexler, this film will be the perfect vehicle for Sandler and Rock and their millions of fans around the world.”
Sandler will produce the film under his Happy Madison Productions company with Allen Covert, with Barry Bernardi and Tim Herlihy as executive producers.
The Week Of is set to premiere on Netflix next year.
