With Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Legends of Tomorrow, Lucifer, Supergirl, and Titans all either on TV or on the way, DC Comics have a lot of shows currently on the air. However, they’re now looking to further expand that slate with a very different sounding project; Powerless.

It’s set to be a half hour single camera comedy which has been described as being like The Office, just with superheroes. Powerless is described as a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America – with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics. The show is about the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains. That actually sounds pretty great!

It’s not clear which heroes and villains are expected to make appearances in Powerless because the focus of the series is on the ordinary, “power-less” folk working at the insurance company who often envy the men and women outside their window who make headlines with their supernatural powers. Deadline doesn’t believe Batman and Superman will appear.

Of course, it doesn’t sound like there’s really any need for any comic book characters to make appearances in Powerless as the focus is obviously not going to be on them. Instead, it’s more likely that their existence will just be referenced, with possibly just the odd cameo.

Regardless, A To Z creator Ben Queen is writing and executive producing the series. His writing credits include Cars 2. It sounds like this one is still pretty far off, so stay tuned…
