Frequent Nicolas Cage collaborator Jon Turteltaub is changing tack for his next feature. The Hollywood Reporter brings news that the National Treasure helmer is in talks to make comedy Last Vegas.
Written by Crazy, Stupid, Love’s Dan Fogelman, it concerns four retired friends who reunite in Vegas to celebrate one of the quartet’s upcoming nuptials with a woman half his age.
Sounds like the kind of premise studios would salivate over, given the recent success of similarly-themed, comedic ensemble pieces like the two Hangover films and this year’s Bridesmaids.
Let’s hope they cast it right (Jack Nicholson’s name must surely have been bandied around a one point) and Turteltaub can dial it down a little.
