Disney+ has released the gripping trailer for its upcoming Original limited series ‘Murdaugh: Death in the Family,’ a tense new drama inspired by the real-life scandal that shocked the world. The series will premiere in the UK on Wednesday, October 15, exclusively on Disney+, with three episodes debuting at launch, followed by one new episode weekly.
Set against the backdrop of South Carolina’s Lowcountry, ‘Murdaugh: Death in the Family’ follows Maggie (Patricia Arquette) and Alex Murdaugh (Jason Clarke), members of one of the state’s most powerful legal dynasties. Their life of wealth and privilege begins to unravel when their son Paul (Johnny Berchtold) is involved in a deadly boat crash. As the family grapples with devastating fallout, long-buried secrets and connections to several mysterious deaths rise to the surface—threatening everything they hold dear.
The powerful ensemble cast includes Jason Clarke as Alex Murdaugh, Patricia Arquette as Maggie Murdaugh, Johnny Berchtold as Paul Murdaugh, Will Harrison as Buster Murdaugh, Brittany Snow as investigative journalist Mandy Matney, and J. Smith-Cameron as Marian Proctor.
Inspired by the popular ‘Murdaugh Murders Podcast,’ the series is co-created and showrun by Michael D. Fuller (Quarry, Rectify, Locke & Key) and Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs. Spears, I Love You, Now Die, Mommy Dead and Dearest). Executive producers include Nick Antosca (A Friend of the Family, The Act, Candy), Alex Hedlund, and Mandy Matney, with UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, serving as the studio.
