From the 2017 Toronto Film Festival we bring you our interviews from the red carpet of the Premiere of Mudbound from director Dee Rees, written by Rees and Virgil Williams. This is the director’s third feature film, following 2011’s Pariah and 2015’s Bessie. She is also one of the directors working on the forthcoming anthology TV series Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams.
Mudbound will be getting a limited US cinema release in November while hitting Netflix everywhere else at the same time. The film stars Garrett Hedlund, Carey Mulligan, Jonathan Banks, Jason Clarke, Mary J. Blige, Jason Mitchell and Rob Morgan.

Mudbound Synopsis
Two men return home from World War II to work on a farm in rural Mississippi, where they struggle to deal with racism and adjusting to life after war.
Laura McAllan is trying to raise her children on her husband’s Mississippi Delta farm, a place she finds foreign and frightening. In the midst of the family’s struggles, two young men return from the war to work the land. Jamie McAllan, Laura’s brother-in-law, is everything her husband is not – charming and handsome, but he is haunted by his memories of combat. Ronsel Jackson, eldest son of the black sharecroppers who live on the McAllan farm, now battles the prejudice in the Jim Crow South.
