Mr Crocodile Dundee himself, Paul Hogan is to return to the big screen in The Very Excellent Mr Dundee.

The film will see Hogan playing himself and on the brink of receiving a Knighthood for services to comedy. “Don’t do anything to mess this up,” his manager tells him. However, despite all his best efforts, the next six weeks sees his name and reputation destroyed.

Strange Bedfellows’ Dean Murphy is set to direct and produce alongside Nigel Odel. Filming is to take place in Australia, Vancouver and Los Angeles.

Hogan released a statement saying “Watch this space as I’ve been honoured to have many of my friends and colleagues, whose work I adore, agree to join us for this hilarious new adventure.”

Hogan as his character Mick Dundee was last referred to in a clever bit of marketing from the Australian Tourism board. In what appears to be a trailer for another adventure in the Crocodile Dundee franchise in which Danny McBride was Brian Dundee, the long-lost American son of Mick Dundee. The trailer also starred Australian superstar and Thor actor, Chris Hemsworth.

Hogan has been missing from both our TV and Cinema screens for nearly a decade, Making his last appearance as Charlie in Charlie & Boots. Hogan rose to international fame for his role as the outback adventurer Mick Dundee in the action comedy back in 1986. The film went on to release two more sequels Crocodile Dundee II in 1988 and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles in 2001.

Filming is due to commence on The Very Excellent Mr Dundee in July 2018.
