Last night Leicester Square played host to the debut directorial offering from one of the greatest writers working today. An Oscar winner for his writing on the David Fincher movie The Social Network, Aaron Sorkin’s work on TV has won him millions of fans and inspired countless others. Molly’s Game is his first film behind the camera and it’s a sterling tale of secrets and high stakes, fronted by an impressive lead performance from Jessica Chastain.

Chastain leads the film along with Idris Elba, with Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Chris O’Dowd in support. It tells the true story of an Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game and eventually became an FBI target. Her players included movie stars, business titans and, unbeknownst to her, the Russian mob.

Molly’s Game Synopsis

MOLLY’S GAME is based on the true story of Molly Bloom, an Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade before being arrested in the middle of the night by 17 FBI agents wielding automatic weapons. Her players included Hollywood royalty, sports stars, business titans and finally, unbeknownst to her, the Russian mob. Her only ally was her criminal defense lawyer Charlie Jaffey, who learned that there was much more to Molly than the tabloids led us to believe.
