Perhaps being overshadowed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s reunion with Brick director Rian Johnson for the film Looper, the news of Gordon-Levitt’s other starring role in Premium Rush returns to the fore today with the news of a couple of co-stars.

From a script by the film’s director David Koepp and his co-writer John Kamps, Premium Rush tells the story of a simple day gone badly wrong, with a bike messenger picking up a package that a ‘dirty cop’ doesn’t want delivered. Cue chases, gun fights, fist fights, more chases and a fast paced game of ‘chase-the-macguffin’.

The ever excellent Michael Shannon has been cast as the film’s antagonist and Jamie Chung is in talks to star in a bizarre role, which is described below.

Here’s what THR had to say about their place in the movie,

Shannon plays the deceptively affable cop with a violent temper. Chung would play Gordon-Levitt’s ex, a fellow daredevil bike messenger who helps him outwit the cop.

I enjoyed Shannon’s Oscar nominated role in Revolutionary Road, Chung I’ve not seen, as Dragonball Evolution and Sorority Girls passed me by, but I’m always on the lookout to see what Gordon-Levitt is doing.
