Writer-director Steve McQueen has seen his second film, Shame, quickly become one of the most talked-about films of the year, and in case you’re yet to see any of our coverage of the film so far, you can catch up on it all right here.

Co-written by McQueen and Abi Morgan (Brick Lane, TV’s The Hour), the film has two of the biggest rising stars in recent years in the form of Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan cast in the leads, and has somewhat controversially been given an NC-17 rating in the States, which is their highest rating, meaning that no one under the age of seventeen will be allowed to watch it in cinemas, regardless of whether they are accompanied by an adult, a rating that very few films are granted in the States.

“Brandon (Fassbender) is a New Yorker who shuns intimacy with women but feeds his desires with a compulsive addiction to sex. When his mentally unstable younger sister moves into his apartment stirring memories of their shared painful past, Brandon’s insular life spirals out of control.”

Yahoo Movies have now got a great new clip from the film to share with us, entitled ‘Longest Relationship’, in which Fassbender discusses his perception of committing to one person for the rest of your life, and admits that his longest relationship didn’t really last all that long.

Fassbender won the Best Actor award at last night’s British Independent Film Awards, as well as the Volpi Cup when the film screened at Venice Film Festival back in September, so this is definitely a film to look forward to next year. Jon caught the film at the London Film Festival in October, and you can read his 5-star review of the film here, yet another reason to look forward to it. America is lucky enough to have just seen Shame’s release this past weekend, but we’ve got a little longer to wait until we get it, with its UK release coming on 13th January next year. Without further ado, here’s the great new clip from the film. Enjoy.
