Fans have been endlessly speculating about which Ant-Man Paul Rudd will be playing in the highly anticipated movie from director Edgar Wright. Well, we now finally have an answer! The Anchorman 2 star will be filling the tiny shoes of Scott Lang, the man who steals the Ant-Man suit in order to become a burglar and help his seriously ill daughter. However,  it’s not long before he sees the error of his ways, resulting in the original Ant-Man – Hank Pym – passing on the mantle to him.

The next question posted by those same fans is whether Pym will even feature in this movie, but thanks to an official press release on Marvel.com, we now know that he will and that Michael Douglas (Wall Street, Behind the Candelabra) is playing him! Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had this to say about choosing the Academy Award-winning actor to fill this iconic role:

With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.”

Wright has revealed his interest in the story of Scott Lang numerous times in the past, and it should be extremely interesting to see how he goes about adapting it (especially as in the comics, Pym is around the same age as Lang and a founding member of The Avengers). More casting news is surely on the way, while Ant-Man is currently set to be released on July 31st, 2015.
