In an interview with Pitchfork, Jim Jarmusch reveal a few tidbits about his follow-up to 2009’s The Limits of Control:

“I have a new film project that’s really foremost for me that I hope to shoot early next year with Tilda Swinton and Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska, who was Alice in Wonderland in Tim Burton’s film. I don’t have that quite financed yet, so I’m working on that.”

If the project comes together and Jarmusch finds financing, then this would be an incredible cast. Fassbender (Fish Tank, Centurion) and Wasikowska (Alice In Wonderland, The Kids Are All Right) are both extraordinary talents and to see them work with the likes of Jarmusch would be an incredible feat for their careers.

The untitled project would be Swinton’s third collaboration with Jarmusch, after a supporting role in Broken Flowers and a brief appearance in The Limits of Control.

In addition, Jarmusch mentioned his involvement in a Stooges documentary, as well as an upcoming opera:

“I’m working on a documentary about the Stooges. It’s going to take a few years. There’s no rush on it, but it’s something that Iggy [Pop] asked me to do.  I’m co-writing an ‘opera.’ It won’t be a traditional opera, but it’ll be about the inventor Nikola Tesla, with the composer Phil Kline.”

Sounds like Jarmusch has a few very interesting projects in the pipeline. I can’t wait to see how they unfold.
