In August, it was reported that Alex Kurtzman, writer of Star Trek and Transformers, is set to make his directorial debut with family-orientated drama Welcome to People.

The film centers on a twenty-something man who, after the death of his father, must deliver 0,000 in cash to an alcoholic sister he didn’t know he had as well as her son, a 12-year-old with major anger management issue. The man doesn’t want to part with the money, but still reaches out to them without telling them who he really is.

ThePlaylist have heard, via Production Weekly’s Twitter stream, that a few actors have been mentioned for various roles within the drama, including Meryl Streep (Doubt), Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes) and Chris Pine (Star Trek).

It’s important to note that the actors have only been ‘mentioned’, which means they probably haven’t even read the script yet, let alone been made firm offers. Dreamworks have simply complied a list of possible actors, with these three as frontrunners.

In any case, it’s certainly an interesting choice in cast, and would be incredible if made a reality.

Welcome to People will be produced by Steven Spielberg and filmed next year.
