The 1994 original starred the late Brandon Lee in the tale of a musician who (alongside his fiancée) is brutally murdered, only to return from the dead to seek vengeance.

The remake comes attached with a good pedigree of talent (singer and writer Nick Cave has been involved in script rewrites and the Blade director Stephen Norrington is onboard), but considering where Wahlberg is career-wise, this material would probably best suit a young up-and-comer, although maybe the Boogie Nights star feels he still needs to make amends for The Happening.
