Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie and Red Sparrow’s Matthias Schoenaerts have been cast to team up to fight the Nazis in Justin Kurzel’s WWII thriller, Ruin.

Robbie will play a Holocaust survivor in Germany. Schoenaerts will play a former SS Captain.

Set in post-WWII Germany, a Holocaust survivor (Robbie) is forced to make an unlikely alliance with an ex-SS captain (Schoenaerts) in her quest to exact revenge. Together, they hunt down the surviving members of the captain’s former Nazi death squad.

Macbeth and Assassin’s Creed filmmaker, Justin Kurzel is taking the helm on a script from Ryan and Matthew Firpo. Marc Butan of MadRiver Pictures is producing alongside Kurzel. MadRiver’s Ara Keshishian serves as executive producer alongside Nik Bower and Deepak Nayar of Riverstone Pictures, who are co-financing.

Robbie can next be seen as the Tudor queen, Queen Elizabeth alongside Saoirse Ronan in Mary Queen of Scots. She will also play Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. She will be returning to the role of Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.

Schoenaerts has been seen in Red Sparrow alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgerton as well as Jailbird and the Racer this year. He also has Close Enemies and Kursk due for release in 2018.

Production is due to start in the Spring of 2019.
