Due out in March, Maniac sees Elijah Wood returning to the horror genre that we all know and love him for.

Directed by Franck Khalfoun (P2), the film is a remake of the original 1980 US slasher of the same name, and we were recently treated a very promising opening six minutes.

To follow that up, we’ve now got two new clips from the film to share, which are expectedly unsuitable viewing for a work environment. So if you’re reading this at your desk, be sure to come back later.

“Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt.

Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.”

Starring alongside Wood is Nora Arnezeder, who recently shared the screen with Ryan Reynolds in Safe House, and who is hopefully becoming a rising young star in Hollywood as well as her native France.

Khalfoun is behind the camera, directing from a script co-written by past collaborators Alexandre Aja and Grégory Lavesseur (Switchblade Romance), with whom he co-wrote the script on P2, and newcomer C.A. Rosenberg.

Maniac is set to be released in the UK on 15th March, and should make for a fine horror in the spring. Still no word on a US release date, but IFC Midnight have the Stateside rights, so with any luck, it will be landing at the same time. For now, here are the two new clips to set the tone. Enjoy.

And as you can no doubt guess, the below clips are NSFW.
