Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills will see Danny Trejo return towards the end of the year in the role that started out in a fake trailer attached to attached to Grindhouse, and has gone on to become something of an instant cult classic.
The first trailer for the sequel launched a few weeks back, giving us a great look at the new ensemble of characters. The film is also ‘introducing’ Carlos Estevez, better known by his stage name Charlie Sheen, and now Rodriguez has shared a new character poster for Sheen’s / Estevez’s President.
In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
Trejo and Sheen / Estevez star alongside Amber Heard, Alexa Vega, Lady Gaga, Sofía Vergara, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson.
Rodriguez is directing from a script penned by Kyle Ward, who wrote the film based on an original story Rodriguez wrote with his brother, Marcel.
Machete Kills is set to be released in the US on October 4th. No word yet on a UK release date, but we’ll hopefully be seeing it around the same time too. For now, here is Carlos Estevez as The President.
