class=”alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-82305″ title=”lily collins” src=”https://www.heyuguys.com/images/2011/04/lily-collins-220×150.jpg” alt=”” width=”220″ height=”150″ />Lily Collins has been chosen to play the title role in Relativity’s Snow White movie, which will go into production opposite Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman.

Lily comes from the beautiful no-need-for-photoshop pool of actors that is 90210, where she had a brief stint in 2009 and indeed her credited performances only go back to that year. She also played Sandra Bullock’s daughter in The Blind Side.

She is now going to take on the protagonist role in a still untitled “Snow White” movie announced by Relativity Media studio, and will star alongside Julia Roberts, no less. From what is known about the movie, it sounds like it will most likely follow the ‘fairytale with a modern twist’ tradition made popular by Ever After: A Cinderella Story, turning Snow White from the submissive girl dreaming of Prince Charming into an independent, strong and brave woman.

It doesn’t sound particularly innovative, and we can only guess Relativity hope to ride on the successful retelling of famous fairytales wave, but these, as the Shrek franchise and Enchanted have shown, work best when done with irony and an eye to older audiences –  or shuffling it up with a horror twist like in Red Riding Hood.

So, this round we’ve got Lily Collins’s looks (for now), Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen and the people behind Rush Hour, The Fighter and 300 producing, which should guarantee some interesting action scenes.

Lily could take a leaf out of Amy Adams’s book, and surprise us all. Or not.

The movie is out on 29 June, 2012. We’ll wait and see…
