Shooting is well underway in South Africa for the new (and hopefully improved!) adaptation of famed 2000AD comic creation Judge Dredd, and it looks like another cast member has been added.

Info gleaned from a site called Judge Dredd Movie News reveals that, although no official announcements have been made, British actress Lena Headey has been cast as the film’s main villain, Madeline Madrigal (AKA Ma-Ma), and has even begun work on the film.

Best known for her roles in the short-lived TV spin-off Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and as Gerard Butler’s missus in 300, Headey is playing a character who is new to the Dredd universe and has been created especially for this second screen incarnation of the Mega City One copper.

The film is directed by Pete Travis (from a script by Alex Garland), and Star Trek’s Karl Urban stars as the titular lawman.
