The winner this time has designed a wonderfully simple DeLorean made famous not only for being a complete flop for the creator of the car but also for being the most famous time-travelling car of all time!
As you’ll see when you watch the video usually, whoever wins the scheme will also receive 1% of any money made when the design goes on sale but the designers (m.togami* and Sakuretsu) of this set has decided to give any money they receive to Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s charity which you can find more on here.
The set looks simply wonderful and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Looking at the design of the car and the costumes that Marty McFly and Doc Brown are wearing, looks like they’re going down the Back to the Future Part III route where they appear in the wild west. Let’s hope if this is a big seller (and surely it will be!), we’ll see more BTTF LEGO goodness in the future.
Thanks to Bleeding Cool for sharing this wonderful news with all BTTF and LEGO lovers out there!
Check out the images and videos below (the second of which gives you a tour of the original fan made model inside and out as well as the character designs as seen in the image to the right.
Here’s the info from the website on why this was chosen with more info here.
Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine
by m.togami* and Sakuretsu
After analyzing the supporters of the Back to the Future project, we learned that this product has a broad, worldwide appeal. The model presented in this project is built very closely to the LEGO Group’s design standards and has therefore provided a strong base to design the final product. It has a high play value and it fits well with supporters’ price expectations.
For these reasons, the Back to the Future project has passed the LEGO Review, and has been selected for production as the next LEGO CUUSOO set. The final product, pricing, and release dates are still being determined.
