HBO Max has released a brand-new teaser for its upcoming DC drama series ‘Lanterns,’ offering another atmospheric glimpse into the mystery-driven world of the highly anticipated show. The teaser also delivers the first look at acclaimed actress Laura Linney, who joins an ensemble cast led by Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre and Kelly Macdonald.
Set to debut on August 17, ‘Lanterns’ will stream exclusively on HBO Max, bringing a grounded detective-thriller spin to the iconic DC mythology. The series follows new recruit John Stewart, played by Pierre, alongside Lantern veteran Hal Jordan, portrayed by Chandler, as the pair investigate a murder in the American heartland that uncovers a far darker conspiracy lurking beneath the surface.
Alongside Chandler, Pierre, Macdonald and Linney, the ensemble cast includes Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
The pilot episode is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, who also serve as co-creators on the series. Mundy additionally acts as showrunner.
Directing duties for the first two episodes fall to James Hawes, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel and Alik Sakharov also helming episodes throughout the season.
