Kick-Ass-2-PosterWe are just weeks away from the return of our favourite band of heroes in Kick-Ass 2, and the anticipation is definitely running on high.

Universal are out in Comic-Con today, with both Kick-Ass 2 and Riddick making up their panel. And in tandem with their appearance out in San Diego, they’ve launched a brilliant new extended red-band trailer, that’s highly suitable for work.

And fans of the original movie will love how this trailer kicks off.

Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are naturally back for more, starring alongside new and familiar faces alike in Jim Carrey, Nicolas Cage, Lyndsy Foseca, Donald Faison, Lindy Booth, Yancy Butler, Clark Duke, Andy Nyman, Robert Emms, John Leguizamo, and Olga Kurkulina.

Jeff Wadlow is directing from his own script, based on the original comics by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. And original director Matthew Vaughn is back on board, returning as an executive producer.

Kick-Ass 2 will be hitting hard next month, arriving in the UK on 14th August, with its US release date following at the end of that week on August 16th. Because we know how much you can’t wait for its arrival, here’s the awesome new trailer, and a final reminder that this is highly NSFW. Enjoy!
