We continue the merry dance of Superhero movie casting tonight with an interesting name thrown into the ring of Zack Snyder’s Superman film – Kevin Costner.

The people at Deadline are claiming that Costner is the subject of heightened interest for Warner Bros, though stop short of specifying which role he is being lined up for if the stories are true. Jonathan Kent is perhaps the most obvious choice, and just as the casting of Martin Sheen in the forthcoming Spider-Man reboot did, it is interesting to see a relatively big name (potentially) cast.

Costner pretty much owned the early 90s before Waterworld and The Postman conspired to bring him down – only his part in Thirteen Days doing much for him, but I happily recall Field of Dreams, which would play nicely into the Kent role if it turns out to be true.

Henry Cavill was recently cast in the title role and a momentum is starting to build for Snyder’s Supes, bringing Costner on board would be a decent idea.

With the help of Jon’s terrifying Photoshop ineptitudeā„¢ let’s see how Kevvy C would look as Jonathan Kent,

Hmmm… looks a little too much like Frank Sinatra for my liking –Ā  perhaps Costner will be Lex Luthor?

Or maybe he’ll be Lois Lane.
