Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes) is in talks to play the female lead in Flight.

Reilly, who beat out Olivia Wilde (The Next Three Days) and Dominique McElligott (The Guard) for the role, will star opposite Denzel Washington (Training Day, Unstoppable) in the Robert Zemeckis-directed thriller.

An airline pilot (Washington) saves a flight from crashing, but an investigation into the malfunctions reveals something troubling.

Flight is being sold to distributors at the currently underway 36th Toronto Film Festival, and will shoot at the end of the year.

Reilly will next be seen opposite Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, due for release in the U.K. on December 16.
