Keanu Reeves is reportedly in talks to star in the John Wick spinoff ‘Ballerina’ the female-centric project which stars Ana de Armas.
Alongside Reeves, it has been confirmed that Ian McShane has also finalised a deal that will see him reprise the role of ‘The Continental’ Manager Winston in the project.
The story will revolve around Ana de Armas’ young female assassin who seeks revenge against those who killed her family. Any additional plot details remain under lock and key, but producer Basil Iwanyk described McShane’s role as “pivotal.” It’s not clear how Reeves, should his deal close, will fit into the story.
“We’re thrilled to have Ian McShane joining us for a pivotal role in ‘Ballerina,” Iwanyk said. “He’s been such an integral part of the franchise since the original John Wick. It’s been fun to have him on this journey as the Wick universe expands.”
Len Wiseman directs from a script by Shay Hatten. Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski are also producing. Brady Fujikawa and Chelsea Kujawa are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
Reeves and McShane will return for the next instalment of the franchise, ‘John Wick: Chapter 4,’ which is due in theatres on March 24, 2023.
