MetFilm Distribution has released the official trailer for ‘Just an Illusion,’ the acclaimed French coming-of-age comedy from BAFTA-nominated filmmaking duo Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache. Following its success at the French box office, the heartfelt drama is set to arrive in UK and Irish cinemas on 11 September.
Set in 1985, ‘Just an Illusion’ follows Vincent, a boy on the cusp of turning 13 who finds himself suspended between childhood and adolescence. Living in the suburbs of Paris, Vincent struggles to understand the complicated world around him. His older brother keeps him at arm’s length, his parents are constantly arguing, and the questions surrounding identity, friendship, family and first love become increasingly difficult to answer. As he stumbles through life’s defining moments, Vincent slowly realises that adulthood doesn’t come with all the answers either.
Simon Boubil stars as Vincent, delivering the film’s central performance, while Camille Cottin (Call My Agent!, House of Gucci) and Louis Garrel (The Dreamers, The Innocent, Little Women) play his parents, whose fractured relationship forms the emotional backdrop to Vincent’s journey.
