Rian Johnson’s Looper has opened this weekend with strong numbers in its first two days of release, and if you haven’t seen it yet, I strongly suggest you take the time to go and see it today.

Garnering universal acclaim from critics since its TIFF debut – you can read our own five-star review here – Looper stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, and Emily Blunt in the leads, the film is almost a lock to be the best sci-fi/action film of the year.

We caught two immense new TV spots for the film last week, just before its release, and now Yahoo Movies have debuted a new video, talking to Gordon-Levitt and Johnson about a key scene from the film.

“In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.

The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.”

Johnson is directing once more from his own script, with Jeff Daniels, Paul Dano, Piper Perabo, Noah Segan, and Garrett Dillahunt completing the cast nicely.

We had the chance to sit down with both Rian Johnson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt earlier in the month as well, and if you missed them earlier in the month, be sure to check them out by clicking on each their names.

Looper is currently in cinemas in the UK and US now, having been released on Friday, 28th September. The early box office numbers are very promising, and I can’t recommend enough how much you should go out today, or as soon as possible, and see it for yourself.
