The action choreography of Chad Stahelski and David Leitch’s John Wick was much praised, and with good reason. The plot of a retired assassin coming out of said retirement to take on a pile of Russian gangsters isn’t breaking moulds. However the stunning gunplay and stripped down narrative gave the film a great sense of momentum and style. Having Keanu Reeves take his stand alongside Jean Reno, Liam Neeson et al in the Mature Assassin’s Guild was also a fine move.
There’s an excellent new gallery of images from the film which have just been released. They offer a very stylish look at some of the scenes we’re to expect in early February when we turn the page on John Wick Chapter 2.
As you can see from the images below The Matrix duo of Reeves and Laurence Fishburne get some screen time together, which will be a fun echo of the grand-daddy of the late 90s action genre. Bridget Moynahan, John Leguizamo, Lance Reddick, and Ian McShane are all back the first film, alongside newcomers Common, Ruby Rose, and Peter Stormare.
John Wick Chapter 2 is released in US cinemas on the 10th of February with the UK getting it a week later on the 17th of February.
