The series centres on Gus Adler (Stiller), a writing professor whose life is upended after a divorce throws him into emotional and logistical turmoil. According to the official logline, Gus struggles to keep his world intact during his “on weeks,” when he has custody of his children. But during his “off weeks,” he begins falling dangerously in love with Stella West (Chastain), a mysterious woman whose sudden presence threatens to collide Gus’ parental responsibilities with his personal desires, setting the stage for potentially devastating consequences.

‘The Off Weeks’ is led by Alissa Nutting (Made for Love, Teenage Euthanasia), who serves as showrunner and executive producer. Michael Showalter developed the series and will direct, executive producing through Semi-Formal Productions alongside Jordana Mollick. Ben Stiller executive produces via Red Hour Films with John Lesher, while Jessica Chastain executive produces alongside Kelly Carmichael through Freckle Films.
