John Boyega

Terminator: Genesis is assembling a very impressive cast, and after finding its leads, John Boyega – who it was recently revealed is a frontrunner for Star Wars Episode VII – is now being sought to play the son of Miles Dyson, the Cyberdyne engineer largely responsible for the birth of Skynet who met his end in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

In that movie, Dyson was played by Joe Morton, and it should be very interesting to see what sort of role his son has in the movie. If Boyega doesn’t end up in Star Wars, he could potentially join a cast which is so far made up of Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and J.K. Simmons.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is also returning of course, and he has revealed some very interesting details about the plot of Terminator: Genesis during promotion for his upcoming movie, Sabotage.

Fans has been wondering how the Alan Taylor helmed follow-up would incorporate the now much older actor as the T-800, and it seems that the filmmaker has a very interesting idea as to how they’re going to get around that issue according to the legendary action star.

“The way that the character is written, it’s a machine underneath. It’s this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator’s flesh ages, just like any other human being’s flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages. Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800, and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good.”

So, we’ll get an older version of the T-800 AND a younger one as well? It’s going to be very interesting to see how the movie plays out, and these plot details definitely leave us with a lot to think about. Terminator: Genesis is set to be released on July 1st, 2015.
