‘Free Guy’ and ‘Killing Eve’ actress Jodie Comer is set to join the cast of Ridley Scott’s historical drama on Napoleon Bonaparte, ‘Kitbag.’

Comer will begin filming towards the end of the year and joins Joaquin Phoenix who plays Bonaparte. Comer will take on the role of Josephine.

In an interview with Variety, Comer said “I just jumped at the chance to work with Ridley and his team again and the idea of working with Joaquin, who’s someone who I hugely admire.”

Comer stars in Scott’s historical drama ‘The Last Duel’ alongside Matt Damon and Adam Driver which premieres at the Venice Film Festival next week. The period drama chronicles one of France’s last legally sanctioned duels when King Charles VI (Affleck) declared that Knight Jean de Carrouges (Damon) settle his dispute with his squire Jacques LeGris (Driver) over a claim of sexual assault by the knight’s wife (Comer) in 1386.

The film is an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine. The intention of the film is to capture Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and astounding strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary.

David Scarpa, who wrote the Scott-directed ‘All the Money in the World’ has penned the script. Scott and Kevin Walsh for Scott Free will produce the project which has been set by 20th Century Studios.
