To celebrate the much-anticipated release of The Eyes of Tammy Faye, which is released in UK cinemas this week, we had the pleasure of chatting to star and producer Jessica Chastain about the new biopic.

In the 1970s, Tammy Faye Bakker (Chastain) and her husband, Jim (Andrew Garfield), rise from humble beginnings to create the world’s largest religious broadcasting network and theme park. Tammy Faye becomes legendary for her indelible eyelashes, her idiosyncratic singing, and her eagerness to embrace people from all walks of life. However, financial improprieties, scheming rivals, and a scandal soon threaten to topple their carefully constructed empire.

In our chat with Chastain, we spoke to her about bringing the “real” Tammy Faye to life after years of criticism and belittling of her in the public eye but her impact on many people’s lives across the world was immense. We also spoke about her meticulous planning process, the make-up process to “become” Tammy Faye and we discover the one thing she would hate more than her fear of singing…
