Jenna Ortega has officially been set to lead ‘Lily May B,’ the highly anticipated next feature from acclaimed French filmmaker Leos Carax. The project marks Carax’s first film since the audacious musical drama Annette, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021 and earned the filmmaker the Best Director prize.

Described in a mysterious, poetic synopsis, ‘Lily May B’ appears to blend dystopian storytelling with surrealist fantasy and the energy of an emotional road movie. The film follows “a little girl, a young woman and a young boy,” each carrying secrets “too heavy to bear,” as they journey through an apocalyptic world aboard a massive motorcycle.

Their odyssey takes them across empty cities, abandoned highways and ancient forests in what sounds unmistakably like a classic Carax fever dream, equal parts haunting fairytale and existential voyage. The synopsis teases a dangerous journey of self-discovery as the trio searches “for a place to B, maybe?”

The film is slated to begin shooting in Spring 2027. ‘Lily May B’ is being produced by Hugo Sélignac through Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, one of France’s leading production companies. Further casting details and distribution plans are expected to be announced closer to production.
