STX International has announced that new Batman possibility Jake Gyllenhaal, alongside Baby Driver’s Ansel Elgort and Spider-Man: Homecoming and The Greatest Showman’s Zendaya have joined the cast of the crime thriller, Finest Kind.

The feature is written and directed by the Legend and A Knights Tale filmmaker Brian Helgeland and will tell the story of two brothers – who will be played by Gyllenhaal and Elgort – who strike a dangerous deal with a crime syndicate that draws them into the Boston underworld. As pressures mount, sacrifices must be made and bonds are put to the test.

Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff will be producing the feature through Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment. Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas as well as Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker, under their Nine Stories banner, will also be producing.

Brian and I have dreamed about making this film together for a long time. Brian’s directorial vision and powerful screenplay which draws on his experiences growing up in the tough town of New Bedford, Mass., has attracted a stellar cast led by Jake, Ansel and Zendaya. I couldn’t be more thrilled!” said producer, Gary Foster.

Gyllenhaal who was seen last year in Netflix’s Okja and true story Stronger has a number of films lined up for release this year. Paul Dano’s Wildlife alongside Carey Mulligan, Jacques Audiard’s western, The Sisters Brother’s that include an all-star cast in Joaquin Phoenix, Rutger Hauer, John C. Reilly and Riz Ahmed and Rio – which is still currently listed as in pre-production – alongside Michelle Williams and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Elgort would have next been seen in the biopic, Billionaires Boy’s Club but due to the sexual harassment allegations against Kevin Spacey (who was also featured n the film), the future of the film is uncertain.
